The path that led me here
Slow Hands Creations emerged from my personal journey with Lupus SLE. It's a path that has been, and continues to be, incredibly painful and challenging. There are many frustrating days, especially when my hands struggle to grip small items like needles and thread, which often end up on the floor. When you're also in a wheelchair, the floor isn't ideal. So, I clean my vacuum cleaner and use it to retrieve them, just as I do when I drop a tub of beads. I simply try to keep going. My journey is far from over; it's only just begun.
Crafting with purpose and care
Living with Lupus means I cannot lift anything heavy; my hands simply can't cope, and it would inevitably end up on the floor. This limitation has profoundly shaped the way I create. All of my products are double-sewn, a technique I've found makes them much stronger and more durable. This unique approach ensures that while my hands may be "slow," the quality and resilience of every piece are exceptional.
More than just creations
My deepest hope is that visitors to this page will find "food for thought." I want to convey that no matter what challenges life presents, there is always a way to shift your focus from hardship by creating something you can be truly proud of.
